Oumou Bathily

My name is Oumou Bathily, a native of Thiès, and I am the founder of Kumba Genetics, also known as Afrik Élevage.

My passion for livestock farming goes back a long way. It was passed on to me by my mother, Kumba, who introduced us early to sheep breeding. From a young age, I grew up alongside this work, and I have kept a deep love for animals, breeds, and the patient effort that makes a farm successful.

Later, I spent time in the United States, where I deepened my knowledge in this field. I completed training and gained hands-on experience through a farm I owned. This step was decisive: it helped me shape my vision, strengthen my expertise, and understand the importance of genetics, traceability, and good breeding practices.

Naturally, I chose to return to my home country with a clear ambition: to put my knowledge and experience at the service of breeders and contribute to modernizing the sector. For me, livestock farming is not just an activity: it is a passion, a heritage, and a mission I carry with pride—passed down from generation to generation.
